The key to a successful family reunion is the setting.
There should be
a range of accommodations to fit various budgets and preferences,
privacy
and freedom from distractions
and plenty of activities for participants
of all ages.
Laurel Mill Lodge has all of the above.
Accommodations
include camping for the outdoor types,
dormitories for the
budget minded,
and “cushy” cabins for those who would rather spend a little
more for more comfort.
We can accommodate your group for as little as $35
per person per day.
Located just 2 1/2 miles off of Highway 17,
Laurel
Mill Lodge is convenient to both the San Jose and Santa Cruz areas,
where
a wide range of activities is available.
And yet the feel of the
place is that of deep wilderness.
Towering redwoods, wild flowers, the sound
of a running creek
and a variety of wildlife
set the stage for
a restful carefree vacation.
There are no traffic noises or intrusions of
any kind.
(Well the bluejays do get kind of uppity sometimes.)
Indoors
the great hall with its huge fireplace affords a cozy space to hang out
and talk, share photo albums or watch videos on our big screen TV.
Outdoors
there is ample space for organized games
such as croquet,
badminton, Frisbee and tetherball.
Other amenities include a huge outdoor
hot tub and a suana.
Hiking, either along the creekbed or on
the maze of mountain backroads,
affords an intimate experience with this incredible
natural setting.
You may cook for yourselves in our fully
equipped kitchen
or drive to a variety of fine restaurants.
Discount
tickets are available for many of the attractions
in San Jose, the
mountains and the beach.
We think you should start planning your reunion
about a year in advance.
We can provide some on-line guidance as plans
develop.
We will give you your own private page on our website,
accessible only to your members.
This will allow you to communicate
with everyone as plans develop,
and to keep the interest and excitement on
the increase.
After the reunion, you may keep your website page for an extra
month
as a place to share pictures and memorabilia.

| The way we see it, Family Reunions are organized extended family vacations
(emphasis
on the “organized”.) And it's no good if it's no fun.
We
think we have a fun place.
Reunions at Laurel Mill Lodge are like camping with comforts.
You get a 27 acre former summer camp - turned - resort pretty much all to
yourselves for just about as many days as you can stand it (Most people choose
2 to 9).
The facilities include lots of indoor and outdoor space for a variety
of activities.
Campers have access to flushing toilets, electric lights,
hot showers,
6 rustic cabins have bunks with foam mattresses for your
own sleeping bags
or ones we rent (sleeps 24),
8 cabins have king-sized
sleeping lofts, carpets, thermostated heat and half baths.
Other amenities
include a 20 person hot tub, an 8 person sauna,
a big screen TV with
some eclectic videos and DVDs, a closet full of games and toys,
an industrially
equipped kitchen with a walk-in refrigerator,
plenty of tables
and chairs, trees and mountains and creeks and animals.
(Did I mention places
to hide out?)
